Looking back: Last Cultural events of 2013

Just a quick post to remember the last cultural events we went to in 2013:

I bought tickets to see the three penny Opera (Die dreigroschenoper) by Bertol Brecht, we forgot that we had tickets and a quick flashback came on a Saturday on our way to the cinema and we managed to get there on time. My husband enjoyed it very much, I'm still  not very convinced by the genre of the opera but just seeing my husband so happy, it made my day. I'm also glad I went to see an early example of modern musical comedy :-).

We also saw in the Board Gais Theater the musical of Priscilla Queen of the Dessert, a very colorful and happy-go-lucky musical protagonized by the 80ies pop singer, Jason Donovan. Wow he can really walk and dance in high heels! Chapeau! I really enjoyed it but to be honest I expected more of it.

I'm trying to remember now the last 2 movies we saw in 2013, the very last one was the second part of Hunger Games "Catching Fire", we really liked it, although I would not say that it's better than the first one, it is not. Based on the ending there will be another movie and I'll be there! I can't have enough of the Hunger games, I love the idea, I find it so original.

The other movie we saw was "Don Jon", I went to see it because I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt but I had no idea about the plot. We actually went to see if with a friend of ours and I think she thinks now that I'm a pervert or something because the movie is about a guy who is obsesses with the gym and porn and it's also a womanizer. Lol. It's actually a comedy, we enjoyed it but it was not the movie of our lives. To be perfectly honest with you, I cannot even remember the end now.. so another forgettable movie that I won't see twice. And yeah my husband enjoyed seeing Scarlett Johansson ..

2013 has been a busy year, a year of changes and with not much time left to write in my blogs.

Music discovery: Ed Sheeran

This new British young pop artist Ed Sheeran has a very promising career, he has received a couple of Brits awards this year as a revelation artist! He made his first video with only 20 pounds! He is so talented , no big shows, no good looks, no extravagancy, just a young lad with a guitar. If you haven't listened to any of his songs yet and you are open musically speaking, as I'm, try to listen to my favorite song "The A team":

Swedish House Mafia - Save The World

I have seen this music video this morning before going to work and i liked it, I thought i would share it with you, wouldn't it be nice if a bunch of cute dogs like the ones in the video saved the world???!!! It's simple enough but i liked it, as i said i'm very versatile musically speaking!! Here is the proof!

Recommended group: The Coronas, pure Irish talent!

Those who know me know how versatile i am in relation to music, in general, i like almost all type of music and I can appreciate what is good (also what is bad lol), so I wanted to share with you my last discovery, the Irish group: The Coronas! I don't need to write much, only that they are a very talented pop-rock group, if you live in Ireland and have a chance to see them, don't miss it! They are great live, I can confirm it! Their debut was in 2007 and I have been lucky enough to see them at the aviva stadium with the Script last weekend. They are performing again in Ireland on the 22 of July in Marlay park, tickets are available in ticketmaster! So if you don't know them yet, you will from now on, just check this video (They played this song at the aviva Stadium and everybody was singing along, i felt embarrassed because i didn't even know the group!! gee shame on me!!):

A new Youtube hit: Talented 12 year old Greyson Chance playing paparazzi Gagas song

A week ago, I discovered talented Greyson by chance reading yahoo news and since then I got more and more interested in this boy´s music. He is only 12 , he became famous when he uploaded on youtube one video of him playing piano and singing Lady Gaga´s song: Paparazzi, from there he uploaded it on youtube last April, just for fun and unexpectedly he has reached the 28,110,286 views of his original video so far. He has composed 2 songs: broken hearts and stars both of them are beautifully sing by his powerful voice. He sings far better than Gaga,by the way. After this youtube success the producers of the American talkshow Ellen Degeneres, called his mum for an interview and to play live in the show. From there, In the show, Greyson talked personally with Gaga and after he performed, the presenter was so impressed by him that she created her first music record label and Greyson is going to be musician artist signing with the record label!

Even though you may not like Lady Gaga or the type of music Greyson plays, it´s undeniable the talent this boy has, he is the kind of kid every mum would love to have a son, don´t you think? I wish Greyson all the best in his carreer and I´m very thankful because I enjoy very much listening to his voice.

You can watch the original video here:

Some songs that bring me some memories from England in the 90ies

The Tamperer feat. Maya - Feel it

This 90'ies dance song reminds me of my frist summers in England 11 years ago where I was learning English, starting to taking planes and I haven´t stopped since then! This song may not be good for some but it brings memories back to me and I like it!

This song from Mouse T also brings me memories from England ,specially because I sang it loud without knowing the meaning of "horny" and I was on the streets from Poole (little town in the South coast of England) singing "i´m horny, horny, horny tonight"!

As I only knew the songs from the radio or the discos, I had to sing any song I liked to the music shop assistant , that was the only way to try to get the right single in the old tapes and take it home with me!

The last example of the single tape I took with me from England to Córdoba is this song by Tina Cousins "misterious times"

Pitingo a great singer

A music recommendation for those open-minded people who want to enjoy a new fresh style of fusion music: soul, pop and flamenco. The king of this style is Pitingo, a singer with a strong sensitivity coming from Huelva (Andalucia)son to a Spanish sailor and a gipsy woman. He moved to Madrid and started to work in the airport carrying passengers baggage. He was discovered in 2004, in Madrid and started to sing in a small pub along with other flamenco singers. However, he would not record his first solo album until 2006 " Pitingo con Habichuelas", due to his collaboration with the family "Habichuela". His second album is called "pitingo souleria" due to his soul touch combined with pop, flamenco and gospel. It´s a pleasure to listen to his music that´s why I wanted to share it with you. I recommend you the following songs: his version of "killing me softly with this song" and his special version of "i will survive" being in included in this last album.
