Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca in Dublin

I´m just back from the final show closing the Dance Festival of Dublin 2010 : "Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamneca" in Vicar street.This famous show has been touring the world promoting Flamenco music and dance. We were lucky to be in the first row at one of the tables just in front of the stage. There was no theater set,only a black courtain with chairs, pure Flamenco , no distractions, not needed. It has been a magical night full of feeling, clapping, tapping their heels, singing and dancing. 2 male dancers, Alfonso López and Juan Ogalla and the leading solo artist, Soledad accompanied by 2 singers and 2 guitarrists. I have to admit that even though Soledad was supposed to be the leading dancer, we liked more the male dancers, which, by the way, had totally different styles. Our favourite one was Alfonso, he danced with such a passion and strengh that the stage was trembling! Juan was also very good, very precise in his movements and elegant. At the beginning i was controlling myself but after the second act i couldnt avoid it and start shouting " Ole,Ole maestro" because they deserved it! I´m still singing the last song "Amparo,Amparo" and I feel like tapping my heels like the dancers! Last but not least both male singers were splendid and the guitarrists played so well that I even thought it was a cd!!! it was impecable! While watching the show I became a bit nostalgical but I´m delighted to have been able to feel in the South of Spain for a couple of hours.

Amigos os presento mi Mundo alternativo

Esta mañana me he despertado pensando en mi mundo alternativo y quería compartirlo con vosotros. Mi mundo alternativo es un mundo que creé cuando con 25 años me fui a Alemania poco después de fallecer mi padre. Os preguntaréis a que me refiero con un mundo alternativo, muy sencillo, cuando una persona que uno/a quiere deja de estar entre nosotros, inmediatamente va a mi mundo alternativo en el que todos los habitantes permanecen vivos con todas sus cualidades y todos los recuerdos compartidos. Os preguntaréis como es posible. La explicación es muy simple, al residir en el extranjero no se asimilan la muerte de familiares/ amigos que tienen lugar en el país de origen. En el momento que te comunican el fallecimiento, es una gran "shock" y se siente una gran tristeza , unido con un sentimiento de culpa e impotencia por no poder estar con la familia. Dicha tristeza, puede durar días pero en cierta manera en algún momento, el cerebro manda a la persona fallecida a un viaje imaginario a un mundo alternativo. Es un fenómeno difícil de explicar y solamente aquellos que vive en el extranjero , lejos de la familia , pueden comprender. Mientras siga viviendo en el extranejro mi mundo alternativo seguirá existiendo, imagino que si algún día vuelvo a España con todos los recuerdos, me daré cuenta de que mis abuelos ya no viven en el piso del centro de Jaca (en mi mundo alternativo, siguen allí); mis tíos ya no residien en su pisito de Madrid y también me daré cuenta de que no veré a mi adorado padre sentado en su despacho; tomando algo en el Aguila conmigo o en el aeropuerto de Barajas en el que me solia recoger cuando volvía de Inglaterra. En mi mundo alternativo hay un bar que curiosamente se llama , Aguila y también hay un aeropuerto de Barajas y una cafetería del Corte Inglés donde mis tíos siguen yendo a desayunar y mis abuelos tienen su piso en un pueblito curiosamente llamado , Jaca. Quiero pensar que todas las personas que quiero que ya no están entre nosotros, están juntos en mi mundo alternativo en el que yo me reuniré con ellos algún día. A medida que pasan los años y mientras sigamos residiendo en el extranjero, mi mundo alternativo irá teniendo más habitantes. Es un mundo diseñado a mi medida. Qué hay en tu mundo alternativo?

Lovely Bones (Dec 2009)- movie recommendation

I usually agree with the rotten tomatoes movie score but not on this occassion giving the critics lovely bones 33%, I however, agree more with the 66% score of the rotten tomatoes community. I didn´t have high expectations and I had actually heard contradictory comments before watching this adaptation of Alice Seabold´s novel.Mistakenly, I thought it was going to be a horror movie of a murdered child coming back and scaring everyone but how wrong I was! I was positively surprised by the beauty of the story and inbetween colourful and creative world where the murdered teenager,Surie, is trapped watching her family and murderer.After having seen previously the young actress of Irish origin, Saoirse Ronan, in another beautiful movie "Attonement", I could appreaciate her development in her career and undoubtely, she deserved her oscar nomination. I am not going to tell you anythingelse and I´m going to finish with one quote from the novel Lovely Bones taken from wikipedia " These were the lovely bones that had grown around my absence: the connections — sometimes tenuous, sometimes made at great cost, but often magnificent — that happened after I was gone. And I began to see things in a way that let me hold the world without me in it..."
If you have a chance to see this movie , I recommend it..

Cosas que echo de menos de España: Regaliz Pepe!

Bueno pues a parte de las cosas que ya he ido mencionando , echo mucho de menos las barras de regaliz Pepe! Las del panda! me acabo de comer ahora la última que me quedaba! así que ya sabéis familia y amigos que estáis en España..

Recomendación: La mejor crema catalana de toda Andalucía!

Para los amantes de la crema catalana como yo, si alguna vez váis por la Carihuela (Torremolinos, Málaga) pasaros por la cafeteria Beni en pleno paseo marítimo en la calle Mar 23, ahí podréis comer la mejor crema catalana casera de toda Andalucía ya que en Cataluña me imagino que habrá alguna mejor! es una tradición de mi familia que he conservado ya que ibamos a la cafeteria desde que yo era chica, al conocer mi padre al dueño. A pesar de la crisis, se sigue manteniendo esta cafeteria familiar y yo sigo yendo cada vez que voy por allí y ahora mi marido también aprecia la crema catalana del Beni! Espero que siga abierta muchos años para seguir pasando la tradición!
