Consejos para no agobiarse en el Hilton de una curranta en tiempos de crisis

1 - Ir con pasta para llamar al servicio de habitaciones (lo tienen 24 horas!)

2 - Cuidado con: a.)El descuento del desayuno que te ofrecen nada más llegar,( en caso de que no lo tuvieras incluido), especialmente si es en libras porque 11.90 por persona puede no parecer tan caro si te lo comparan con las 20 libras q vale normalmente...Timo! No os rindáis a los encantos del recepcionista! saben como vender y el desayuno es un buffet normal y corriente y no tiene nutela!!!

b) La Televisión !!! nada más llegar aparece tu nombre en la pantalla y creéme, son técnicas para que te den ganas de ver alguna película que vale 10 libras cada una! Cuidado con el mando a distancia y poner el código de la habitación, como casi hace uno que yo me sé...jejej

c) El Mini Bar con el frigorífico terrorífico (scary fridge!). Ni os ocurra levantar ningún artículo del mini bar si venís muertos de hambre a las tantas a no ser que cumplas con el punto 1 arriba mencionado. Qué por qué? porque si juegas con los cacahuetes o quieres ver que tipo de botellitas tan monas tienen, se cargará automáticamente en tu factura! El frigorífico está computerizado y cada artículo del mini bar que tocas queda registrado! que tios! lo sabian exactamente: dos paquetes de cacahuetes y un botéllín de whisky que solo levantamos pero que nunca consumimos! (3 libras 75 cada paquete y 7.50 la botellita!). Eso sí, en favor del Hilton tengo que decir que una vez que te llega la factura, si la miras bien y ves cargos que no corresponden, son bastante amables y te los descuentan.

3 - Si quieres ir al gimnasio del hotel, tranquilos, es "gratis"! No intentéis echar la puerta abajo si no se abre, como hicimos nosotros, sólo hay que ir a recepción a rellenar un formulario diciendo que no te va a dar un ataque al corazón y luego puedes entrar!

Lo mejor del Hilton :

1. La máquina de hielos del pasillo, espectacular para hacer botellón o meter una botella de champán pirata! Puedes usar los hielos y las copas del hotel (eso sí luego lavarlo todo y dejarlo como nuevo. Ah! la botella vacía tirarla fuera que sino lo mismo cobran!)

2. El servicio y personal del hotel, muy atentos y eficientes.

3. La King bed del cuarto super cómoda!las toallas! los geles y la crema hidratante! el secador y la habitación en general bien.

4. La plancha y la calentadora de agua con bolsitas de té del twings y galletas escocesas (esto era gratis aunque cuando nos llegó la factura y vimos tanto cargo dejamos de tomar té, por si acaso!yo a lo escocés agarrá,agarrá!!)

5. Muy bien situado en pleno "City of London", justo al lado del tamésis y del Towerbdridge (mi puente favorito!)

6. Las vistas de la habitación y la terraza !

Lo peor:

El estrés de no tocar nada por si cobran jaja

Conclusión:

Ahora entiendo porque la Paris tiene tanta pasta!

We will rock you Musical

The most modern,entertaining and best developed musical I have seen so far, where around 32 Queen hits are featured by very professional singers. "We will rock you" has been the musical that has stayed longer in the Dominion theatre in London (over 3 years now!), we were lucky to get tickets to enjoy such a wonderful show. It portrays a view of the future in 2300 where instruments will be forbidden and the music will become computerized and controlled by a single online company. A gaga planet full of boy and girl bands with user ids instead of names. Those called the bohemians are the ones who tried to get back the rock through Queen hits and they are chased by the gaga police since they are considered a threat to the computerized tunes. The musical has a great show behind with lights, computer effects in the background and very well designed scenarios with a big budget. There was a live band that played all hits which could be heard in all theatre with great quality. Freddy Mercury gets back to life at the night of the show, specially the female singers paid him a well-deserved tribute with their strong voices. I can´t stop singing 'Bohemian Rhapsody' song that gave me the goose gimples when I heard it and when they all sang "we are the champions" and the whole theater rose their hands in the air and sang along. I truly recommend you to go and see this musical before it´s too late, even if you are not a fan of the fantastic Queen, you will enjoy it! it´s full of surprises!

Pitingo a great singer

A music recommendation for those open-minded people who want to enjoy a new fresh style of fusion music: soul,pop and flamenco. The king of this style is Pitingo, a singer with a strong sensitivity coming from Huelva (Andalucia)son to a Spanish sailor and a gipsy woman. He moved to Madrid and started to work in the airport carrying passengers baggage. He was discovered in 2004, in Madrid and started to sing in a small pub along with other flamenco singers. However, he would not record his first solo album until 2006 " Pitingo con Habichuelas", due to his collaboration with the family "Habichuela". His second album is called "pitingo souleria" due to his soul touch combined with pop,flamenco and gospel. It´s a pleasure to listen to his music that´s why I wanted to share it with you. I recommend you the following songs: his version of "killing me softly with this song" and his special version of "i will survive" being in included in this last album.

Una canción "im-presionante" de un famoso torero andalú

Jesulín De Ubrique, torero de éxito que provenía de una familia originariamente humilde, de Ubrique (Cádiz). Jesulín consiguió todo lo que se propuso,empezó a torear obligado por su padre a la edad de 13 años, estuvo a punto de perder la vida en 4 ocasiones, 3 en 3 graves cogidas en diferentes plazas de toros (una de ellas llegando a herirle un testículo y parte del pene, uy!!) y la última en un grave accidente de coche que casi le costó la vida. Os preguntaréis por qué me ha dado por escribir sobre Jesulín, pues muy sencillo,ayer vi un reportaje de su vida y de la de su familia en Canal Sur y me hizo recordar uno de los momentos de su vida que creo que ningún español podrá olvidar..la salida de su disco con la canción "Toda" o "toa " como es más comúmente conocida! jajaj que buenos momentos nos llevábamos en los pubs cuando ponían su canción "toa,toa ,toa te necesito toaaaa",lo mejor era escuchar la versión grabada de su cd con perfecto acento de Don Quijote cuando un gaditano de acento cerrado como él, nunca pronunciaría la "s" finales ,ni diría "toda" sino "toa" que a fin de cuentas tiene mucho más arte! Bueno aquí os dejo con un video antiguo de su canción mítica (en playback,claro)!

Andaluces por el mundo

"Andaluces por el mundo"Serie de reportajes semanal que muestra el contraste entre los immigrantes andaluces fruto de la globalización y los immigrantes que dejaron Andalucia en la época de la guerra o posguerra. Jóvenes andaluces que cómo yo cogieron su maleta y emprendieron un viaje para abrirse camino en mundo de oportunidades. Primero de formación y luego de trabajo. Me siento muy identificada con la mayoría de jóvenes andaluces que salen en este programa ya que tenemos muchas cosas en común como que echamos de menos a la familia, la comida, el clima y que muchas cosas se aprenden a apreciar desde el extranjero como el excelente sistema de salud que hay en España (público y privado), la calidad de la música de fusión flamenca que me encanta, nuestras carreteras, nuestros medios de transporte, el cielo azul a diario en mi andalucia querida..,una tostada matinal con aceite de oliva fresco y tomate rallado y como no mi canal sur del alma! el que por cierto puedo ver online gratis. Bueno el propósito de este mini artículo es recomendaros que le echéis un vistazo a algunos de los videos grabados de andaluces por el mundo, ni españoles,ni madrileños, ni aragoneses por el mundo, los andaluces los que más arte tienen!!!

8 Jahren ohne mein Vater
8 años sin mi padre


My father taught me to be an independent woman , to fight against unfairness and to assist others when needed. He had strong values and really believed in his ideas and fought for them. He followed his will and raised 5 daughters together with my mother. 8 years without you, Dad and I feel you very close. I wish you were here and i could tell you so many things. I hope you can read from wherever you are now, the 4page-publication i sent to my family in tribute to you. Every year i´ll write to keep you alive among us. In the end, my hope is that internet gets everywhere even to the other life ,im sure you are enjoying!

I´ll share with oyu only a few words I wrote about him in Spanish, the rest is only for my family:

Una gran pérdida para todos

Fue muy duro para mí al igual que para toda la familia, hacerme a la idea de que iba a tener que vivir sin su gran apoyo .. ¿Qué iba a hacer yo sin mi padre? , me preguntaba .Su fallecimiento fue devastador para todos/as nosotros/as
A día de hoy creo que no he superado su ida de este mundo terrenal. Fui débil y preferí huir de los recuerdos y marcharme con mi maleta de 20 kilos a Alemania.No pasa un día que no me acuerde de ti, papá . Tu legado sigue vivo en la casa de la Cultura de Palma del Río y en el corazón de tu familia...

Las meninas según Eduardo Arroyo

A different and modern view with a clear pop art influence of La infanta Margarita from "las Meninas" by the Spanish artist Eduardo Arroyo who left Spain in 1958 under Franco´s rule. The painting and sculpture were part of the exhibition "modern starts" in Córdoba. I ,personally, am not a big fan of the famous painting "las meninas" by Velázquez but after having seeing Arroyo´s approach i may have changed my mind! Well, i actually like his menina!!I specially like the d.n.i (identity card) of the sculpture!

Future "ruinair" security manual?

I wanted to publish this funny cartoon i received in relation to the charges "Ruinair" wants to implement when going to the toilet (i´m thinking of bringing my own toilet paper or baby nappies!). Will this image be in their security manual in the future? who knows!! for now we can only joke about it and hope this does not happen!

orange trees in Southern Spain

For those of you who have been to Southern Spain, you may have wondered what happens to the oranges hanging on the orange trees. Orange trees that have become icons of our culture like in my city, Córdoba. Many tourists taste these oranges being unaware of their bitterness and then learn the lesson. I have always lived sorrounded by orange trees and only today ,by chance,i have bumped into the orange trees collectors and then i found out that the collected oranges are sent to U.k. so that they can produce bitter orange mermalade! If you haven´t been to Southern Spain yet, now you are warned: dont try to taste any orange hanging on a tree,if you want to know their flavour you have to go to U.k.!

Modern starts exhibtion in Córdoba (Spain)

Today i have been to this Mondern starts exhibition where very original and suggestive photographs taken by very talented Spanish photographers. Daniel Canogar´s photograph covered one wide wall due to its extensive length. Some nude bodys inbetween of cables,mobiles adn other electronic devices all messed up in what looked like a dumping site really caught my attention (see picture where onlyone part of the pciture is displayed). Joan fontcubierta´s photograph "google grama 24" with a big colourful skulk with mini printed images of our day-2-day world. These two pictures along with the one with Picasso´s bread hands (see picture) were my favourite. Capturing reality in an instant through photos help us to have a closer look at our life as a whole, life that is different according to the eyes that contemplates it.

Ron Mueck unique sculptures

I wanted to show you a unique Australian hyperrealist sculptor : Ron Mueck. The realism of his sculptures is superb, his coming exhibition will be in Japan,next April but i do hope to be able to admire his art in Europe one day.

Mueck´s sculpture look may remind you of the movie "the labyrinth" starring David Bowie (I loved that movie by the way!) for which he contributed. It´s unbeliavable the close you can get to reality through art , don´t you think?

The sculpture of the baby girl is really impressive and the one with the woman in bed or the big guy. I haven´t seen another sculptor like Mueck, have you?
